SOAR into Summer is a program put in place to help keep your reader and writer rising up in their literacy journey. Summer tutoring plays an important role in helping students maintain the academic gains they have made throughout the school year and prevent the “summer slide,” when skills—especially in reading and writing—can decline without consistent practice. Continued exposure to structured literacy instruction;
supports retention of previously taught skills,
strengthens foundational skills,
builds confidence,
This allows students to return to school ready to learn. Summer is also an ideal time to close learning gaps, reinforce key concepts, and provide targeted support in a low-pressure environment. For students who are ready, it offers an opportunity to get ahead and deepen their understanding, setting them up for long-term academic success.
At SOAR Tutoring Center, summer tutoring is designed to be flexible, consistent, and highly individualized. Students attend either two or three 60-minute sessions per week (Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and/or Thursdays), with a minimum commitment of two sessions weekly to ensure meaningful progress. Families may choose to begin with an initial intake assessment to guide instruction, though this is optional during the summer. If an assessment is not completed, instruction will focus on reviewing grade-level skills while identifying and addressing any gaps or areas of need along the way. For students seeking enrichment, sessions can also be tailored to extend and deepen literacy skills. All instruction includes ongoing progress monitoring, and families receive regular updates on skills taught and student growth. With limited availability, we encourage families to reserve a spot to support continued learning and confidence to help your student SOAR!
